Construction Update - June 26th
Wondering what's been going on at the Dilboy Auxiliary Fields lately? Recently, significant progress has been made on the demolition phase of the project. Currently, the topsoil is being carefully scraped and gathered into piles for a crucial step called soil screening. This process involves sorting the soil into appropriate aggregate sizes and preparing it for reuse on site. By conducting the screening on site, we're minimizing the number of trucks entering and leaving the area, reducing traffic and disruptions on the parkway.
Once screened, the soil undergoes enrichment with compost, sand, and other amendments deemed necessary before being reused. This prepared soil will then be utilized in the installation of a sand slit drainage system. This advanced drainage solution incorporates perforated drains and sand-filled slits across the fields, effectively managing water flow and addressing drainage issues.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused during this construction period. This project is a cornerstone of the Athletic Fields Masterplan and marks a significant milestone toward meeting the city's increasing demand for athletic facilities while preserving natural grass fields. Its completion will finalize the objectives set out in the Masterplan, benefitting the community by enhancing sports infrastructure and recreational opportunities.
