Project Description

Foss Park is Somerville’s second largest public park, making up a little over 8% of the City’s total open space. Owned by the State’s Department of Recreation and Conservation (DCR), the park serves both local and regional user. In December 2018 DCR announced plans to invest $1.2 million in a new, multi-sport turf field, field drainage improvements, field lighting, and pathway upgrades and the City would like to hear community input on improving the remaining areas of the park. Please share your ideas with us.

Upcoming Meetings

Mayor Joseph Curtatone, State Senator Pat Jehlen, State Representative Mike Connolly, and City Councilor Matthew McLaughlin invite you to join your neighbors in the conversation about community needs in Foss Park. The conversation will focus around several key topics including athletics, park amenities, pool amenities, climate, natural environment and safe routes to the park. The City will be holding the same meeting on two different evenings, one at the Healey School on Wednesday, October 30 and one at East Somerville Community School on Wednesday, November 13, both from 6:30-8:00pm. Pizza will be provided. Please come share your thoughts and priorities with the State and City Representatives and Staff.
