Installation of Pavement Markings Begins 4/26/23

Weather permitting, beginning the night of Wednesday, April 26, City contractors will begin to install the new pavement markings as part of the Grand Union Boulevard Protected Bike Lanes Quick-Build.

This work will create safer biking connections and a more comfortable pedestrian experience in a growing area of the City without removing parking lanes or impacting bus stops.

Anticipated Work Schedule (subject to change):

  • Wednesday-Thursday, April 12-13, between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m.

Locations of Work:

  • Grand Union Boulevard (Great River Road to Foley Street)

  • Foley Street (Grand Union Boulevard to Middlesex Avenue)

Construction Impacts:

  • On-street parking may be restricted during construction.

  • Potential periods of elevated noise levels around work zones.

Crews will return to complete the final pavement markings over the next week. If you have questions, please call the Engineering Division at 617-625-6600 ext. 5400 or email construction@somervillema.gov.
