Summer 2025 Project Update

Preparations for sewer and drainage utility upgrades along Morrison Avenue continue with both Eversource working to upgrade gas mains in the area, and the City working with project consultants to advance design.

Below we’ve included a few notes about what you can expect in each of these areas.

Eversource Gas Main Upgrades

Eversource is working to install new gas utilities underneath Morrison Avenue between Cedar Street and College Avenue. This work began in July and is expected to take approximately 2-3 months to complete.

The City asked partners at Eversource to prioritize these necessary repairs to take place prior to the City’s sewer and drainage work.

Advancing Design and Anticipated Construction Start

Meanwhile, the City’s project team is working with engineering consultants to prepare the preliminary design for presentation. This design advances the concept presented at our March 2024 Community Meeting and incorporates community feedback gathered at that meeting and our June 2024 open house.

We currently anticipate presenting this updated design to the community and providing opportunities for feedback later this fall.

The preliminary design and details about any community meeting or opportunities to get involved will be shared here and through other City channels.

At this stage, our best estimate is that construction will start sometime in the Summer of 2027.
