UPDATE: Access to Blessing of the Bay Park During Construction

Following concerns from residents regarding the lack of midway openings in the construction fencing along Shore Drive, we met on site with the landscape architecture, engineering, and construction teams to evaluate whether additional access points could safely be added. The review confirmed the initial decision that it is not possible to open the fencing at points between the two ends of the construction zone.

The full length of the project work zone will be an active construction site with open trench work throughout the construction period. Breaking the site into sections with midway access points would create safety hazards for both the public and workers, and would significantly extend the overall project timeline. We recognize that having fewer entry and exit points to Blessing of the Bay Park is frustrating, and we appreciate your patience.

The two entry and exit points will remain at:

  • West end: Shore Drive between Bailey Road and Governor Winthrop Road
  • East end: Shore Drive east of Temple Road, near the Fellsway. This location also connects to the footbridge connecting to Sylvester Baxter Riverfront Park and Assembly Row.

We will continue to post updates here as the project progresses. Thank you for your engagement and your continued patience as this work moves forward.
