Upper Summer St. (School St. to Spring St.), Westwood Rd., Avon St., Berkeley St, Paving Update
If you’re interested in work currently ongoing on Central Street (week of 10/7), please see our previous update here.
Over the coming weeks (beginning 10/8 or soon after), crews will work to prepare upper Summer Street (School St. to Spring St.), Westwood Road, Avon Street, and Berkeley Street for final paving. Preparation will consist primarily of adjusting castings (manhole covers and other in ground structures within the roadway) to their final height.
Paving Schedule (subject to change due to weather or other factors):
Monday, October 21 - Upper Summer Street (School St. to Spring St.) and Westwood Road
Pavement marking on Summer Street will follow approximately 1-2 weeks after paving
Monday, October 28 - Avon Street and Berkeley Street
Additional notification will be provided to residents via flyer and city alert as work gets closer and schedules are confirmed.
Construction Impacts:
- Periodic road closures and detours will be in place during work.
- Temporary parking restrictions on affected streets.
- Please observe posted signage.
- On days when paving is underway, access to driveways along the impact stretch of roadway may be temporarily restricted.
- Additional notification will be provided.
Thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding as we continue to move toward completion on this project. Paving the streets above represents a major project milestone.
Final paving on remaining project streets including lower Summer Street (School St. to Bow St.), Oxford Street, Hersey Street, Gibbens Street, and Cambria Street will take place in spring/summer 2025.
