Pre-cast Concrete Curb Installation along Protected Bicycle Lanes - Oct. 17 or Soon After

Weather permitting, tomorrow October 17, or soon after, City contractors will add pre-cast concrete curbs to the existing street-level protected bike lanes on Washington Street between Webster Avenue and Line Street.

What to Expect:

  • Work is expected to take place between approximately 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Temporary lane shifts or detours may be in effect to facilitate work. Please observe posted signage.
  • MBTA bus route 109 service will not be affected.

About this Work:

Pre-cast concrete curbs create a stronger barrier between the bike lane and motor vehicle lane, providing enhanced protection for people biking. These curbs are installed alongside taller flexible plastic posts (flex posts) that provide additional visibility at night and after snowfall.
