Upcoming Brickbottom Virtual Workshop
6:00 pm on Wednesday, October 27

Join and register in advance for the meeting here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with information about joining the meeting.

Come join us in our continued efforts to create a vision for Brickbottom. This will be an interactive workshop, so come ready to brainstorm on the draft materials we will share and help us shape the future of this area!

The first Visioning Workshop was completed on April 7, if you missed it, you can download the presentation here.

Current planning efforts for Brickbottom aim to produce a Vision Plan for the development of the area, which will inform infrastructure investments by the City while serving as a precursor to specific zoning changes that will enable new construction. It will primarily focus on the future physical design of streets and parks as well the shape, size, and architectural character of new buildings. If there is a Master Planned Development overlay district for Brickbottom in the future, this Vision Plan will inform or become the Urban Design Framework that the Planning Board would adopt to enable it.

Brickbottom is identified as an area to transform by SomerVision, the City's comprehensive plan, so we intend is to enable extensive change in the area, creating new possibilities for housing, civic spaces, and commercial development. We are in the early stages of this process and need the input of the community on big picture questions, your input is invaluable to us!

You can provide us your feedback either by taking the online survey below or downloading this worksheet and sending us a completed PDF file to planning@somervillema.gov. You can also share a physical printout of your worksheet by dropping it off at the Somerville City Hall mailbox at 93 Highland Ave. You can also sign up for our mailing list to stay updated.

  • Thank you for helping to plan the future of the Brickbottom neighborhood! We have organized three activities to kick off the neighborhood planning. This "homework" will help us understand your vision for Brickbottom. We appreciate you taking the time and the energy during these trying times to share your local knowledge.
