Attend the Broadway Magoun Updated Design Open House, November 4!

City staff invite you to an open house to discuss the proposed updated design for the Broadway Magoun Reconstruction Project.

Date & Time: Wednesday, November 4 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

Location: Arthur D. Healey School, 5 Meacham Street.

About the event: At the open house, we will showcase the updated design with more details about the proposed new street elements and a decision about the Magoun Square intersection (Broadway at Medford Street). Using the community input we heard this spring, we developed a more refined and detailed design to bring to community members this fall.

Community members can come learn about the updated design and different aspects of the project, talk directly with project team members and share further feedback and questions. Drop in any time during the event to review materials and talk with City staff. Food and refreshments will be provided.

Other ways to learn more and provide feedback on the design:

Materials from the Open House: All posters and brochures used at the open house will be published to the project webpage on November 5.
Recorded presentation: Within two weeks of the open house, we will upload a recorded presentation going through the same materials presented at the open house.
Design feedback survey: Community members will be able to share their feedback via our online survey after we publish the design on November 4.
- The survey will be available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Nepali, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
- If you prefer to take this survey via phone, call 311 (617-666-3311) and submit a call back request.
- The survey will be closed on December 4 at 12:00pm.
Street Outreach Pop-Ups: Come talk to us on the street. We are aiming to host a pop-up at Henry Hansen Park on November 12 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. and at the intersection of Broadway and Medford Street (outside CVS) on November 18 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. If inclement weather is forecasted, check the website approximately 48 hours ahead for event updates.
Virtual Office Hour: Join City staff on November 13 between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to ask your questions and share your comments via zoom webinar. Community members can join at any time during the event.

Small Business & Community Group Outreach: Between November 4 and December 4, we will also be scheduling meetings with local community groups and visiting nearby small businesses.
Community-wide Events: We will attend and share project information at upcoming events such as Somerstreets: Monster Mash.

Next steps

After we wrap up this phase of community engagement, we will work over the winter to finalize the design. In the spring, we will publish the final design and prepare for construction. Construction is anticipated to take place between 2027 and 2029 depending on contractors’ schedules.
