This year, the City will be resurfacing the roadways and sidewalks of Holland Street from Davis Square to Teele Square, and of College Avenue, from Davis Square to Power House Circle. This project presents an opportunity to reconsider the surface roadway configuration and pavement markings in line with the City’s transportation goals to promote sustainable, multi-modal transportation and improve traffic safety for all users.

Public Input Map

The City of Somerville needs your input for the Holland St & College Ave Mobility Improvements project.

Writing your comments on this map will let the City’s project team know what you see as issues and opportunities in the project area. Use the different color pins to highlight locations that you think it is important for staff to prioritize for changes or improvements, as well as locations that are currently working well. Once you add a pin, you can also include comments and images to highlight specific priorities or concerns.

  • Project area is outlined in grey
  • Existing bus stops in the project area are shown in black
  • Existing trees in the project area are shown in green.
Click on the marker button (+) to start adding pins.

A note about the scope of this project: Unlike a full street reconstruction (think Somerville Ave or Beacon St) this is primarily a resurfacing project. It includes new pavement and ADA accessible sidewalks, new road markings, and limited changes to the curb like bump outs. It does not include changes that would require rebuilding drainage structures or other underground infrastructure. We need your help to prioritize the most important locations for improvements, since we're unable make wholesale changes at every intersection with this project. Please consider this as you add pins to the map.
