The Shore Drive Greenway will be a 12-foot-wide shared-use path through Blessing of the Bay Park along the Mystic River, improving public waterfront access and connections to transit, jobs, and community resources.
The project advances climate resiliency through ecological enhancements — including 85 new shade trees, 1,520 square feet of native plantings, and underground green stormwater infrastructure — mitigating urban heat, improving air quality, capturing carbon, and buffering traffic noise for both commuters and recreational users.
Funding is generously provided by the Massachusetts EOEEA Municipal Vulnerability Fund (MVP), MassTrails, the Somerville Community Preservation Act (CPA), and the Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA).
