Learn More About the Western Pearl Street Updated Design and Share Your Feedback!
On October 4, the City hosted an outdoor open house to share the Updated Design for the Western Pearl Street Reconstruction project. Thank you to the community members who were able to join, ask questions, and share your feedback.
After reviewing all the feedback we collected in May 2025 for the concept design options, we developed a more detailed version of the Concept Design Option 1. The design includes:
- Two-directional protected bike lanes from Medford Street to Skilton Avenue.
- One direction of protected bike lane heading eastbound between Skilton Avenue and McGrath Highway.
- Raised crosswalks across side streets that intersect with Pearl Street.
- A raised crosswalk across two sections of Medford Street.
- Raised intersections at Marshall Street and Walnut Street.
- Two fully accessible parking spaces.
- Two loading zones.
- One side of parking primarily on the north side of the street.
- Four in-lane or floating bus stops.
- And approximately 16 new trees.
Take a look at the materials below to learn more about the proposed concept design options.
- Check out the posters from the October 4 Open House detailing the project design elements.
- Review the Updated Design Illustrative Plan.
- Check out the brochure for an overview of the proposed changes in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Nepali.
- Watch a recorded presentation describing the Updated Design.
Later this week, we will publish a video of a recorded presentation talking through the concept design details.
We want to hear from you! Over the next month, we aim to gather as much feedback as possible through a variety of community outreach activities.
Take our Updated Design Feedback Survey to share your feedback. The survey is now available until October 31, 2025. The survey is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Nepali, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
Come join us at our upcoming street outreach pop-up on October 7 at the intersection of Medford Street and Pearl Street from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to talk to staff in-person, share your ideas, and ask questions. If we change the date due to inclement weather, we will post an update on project webpage.
Join one of our Virtual Office Hours to ask your questions or give feedback to the project team. Community members can log into the zoom webinar at any time during the event.
